Comedy Sequel Moves Forward

A third film in the '22 Jump Street' series is now in active development. The working title for the project is '24 Jump Street.' Rodney Rothman, who previously directed the animated feature 'Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,' has been tapped to direct. Rothman is also co-writing the script alongside Meghan Malloy and Jonah Hill.

An official release date has not yet been announced. Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube are currently in negotiations to reprise their roles. Producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who were behind the first two films, are returning to the franchise. Neal H. Moritz will also serve as a producer.

Storyline and Legacy

The original '21 Jump Street' debuted in 2012. Its plot followed two young police officers working undercover at a high school to dismantle a dangerous drug ring targeting teenagers. The 2014 sequel sent the same characters undercover at a college. This new chapter continues a story that has built a strong following among audiences.

The third film marks a return of beloved characters, sparking excitement among fans. Bringing in fresh creative talent like Rothman could offer a new perspective on the familiar premise. By keeping the release date and plot details under wraps, the filmmakers aim to maintain suspense and build anticipation.
