Recent Shifts in Women's High Jump Rankings
Ukraine's strength in the women's high jump is hard to miss in the latest global standings. The list, updated on August 25, features three Ukrainian athletes in the top 10, with Yaroslava Mahuchikh staying second at 1,375 points and Yuliya Levchenko climbing to third with 1,334. Iryna Herashchenko also makes her return, taking seventh place with 1,255 points. Australia's Nicola Olyslagers continues to lead with 1,378 points, a five-point margin over Mahuchikh.
Levchenko, who resumed competing in early August after recovering from a knee injury, has surged to third. Herashchenko, absent last season because of pregnancy, came back to competition in early 2026 after maternity leave. Since then, she has competed in 11 events and made the podium nine times, including a second-place finish at the Diamond League meeting in Silesia, Poland, with a leap of 1.98 meters. That performance helped her move from 11th to seventh in just one week.

This is not the first time Ukraine has had three representatives in this group. In September 2025, Mahuchikh was second, Herashchenko seventh, and Levchenko ninth. Mahuchikh and Olyslagers have already locked up early spots for the 2027 World Championships as the reigning Olympic and world champions, respectively. That event takes place September 11–13 in Budapest, with eight high jumpers set to compete. Three Ukrainians are currently inside the qualification zone based on rankings, with six more entrants to be decided after the next list update.
