November Set for Ukraine-US-Russia Trilateral Talks as Zelensky Stands Ready to Negotiate Anytime

З України та США разом з Росією розпочинають діалог, й Україна готова до обговорень у будь-який момент.

Ukraine, the US, and Russia Prepare for Trilateral Negotiations

A trilateral meeting involving negotiation teams from Ukraine, the United States, and Russia is scheduled for early November. Ukraine has expressed its willingness to engage in talks at any time, but the actual timing depends on Moscow's stance. An earlier meeting planned for October was canceled after Russia declined to participate.

The Crucial Role of Global Partners

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the necessity of involving Washington and European allies to successfully advance the negotiation process. He stated:

“Our collective focus must be on ensuring these meetings take place—jointly with America, Europe, and our other partners. These discussions are essential for diplomacy to move forward.” – Volodymyr Zelensky

Zelensky also highlighted the importance of shifting from technical-level talks to direct discussions among heads of state, as key issues require resolution at the highest level. He added:

“We need trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, America, and Russia, with Europe also playing a part in these conversations.” – Volodymyr Zelensky

During a phone call with US officials Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff, the outcomes of recent meetings in Oslo and Salzburg were reviewed alongside plans for the next diplomatic steps. Ukraine, the US, and European partners have developed new peace proposals intended for presentation to Russia. Finnish President Alexander Stubb confirmed this information following delegation talks in Norway.

Zelensky expressed openness to a peace agreement that would freeze hostilities along the current frontline but stressed that Ukraine would require security guarantees from the US and European allies under such an arrangement. On the international stage, China has also voiced readiness to collaborate with all parties to resolve the conflict. President Xi Jinping affirmed China’s commitment to supporting the peace process.

In summary, the upcoming trilateral meeting planned for early November could mark a significant milestone in the ongoing diplomatic efforts. The success and timing of these talks depend heavily on Russia’s willingness to engage and the involvement of key international partners. The participation of the US and Europe is likely to shape the negotiations and outcomes, underscoring the vital role of collective diplomacy. Additionally, China’s engagement may introduce fresh opportunities to advance toward conflict resolution.

As the upcoming negotiations gain momentum, it's crucial to understand the broader diplomatic efforts at play.
