Deadly Russian Nighttime Strike Across Ukraine
Russia’s latest overnight attack on Ukraine claimed eight lives and injured over 50 people, marking another grim chapter in the ongoing war. Emergency crews are still working in Lviv and the Dnipropetrovsk region, with the Kryvyi Rih district hit hardest: a direct strike on a private home of a large family killed six people, including three children—a 6-year-old girl, an 11-year-old boy, and a 17-year-old boy. At least eight others were wounded, two of them children. This attack underscores the relentless civilian cost of the conflict, which has drawn international condemnation for targeting residential areas.
In the Kyiv region, five members of one family were injured. Rescue teams managed to pull three people from the rubble. In Lviv, multiple apartment buildings suffered extensive damage, leaving dozens injured, including children. A police officer and a rescuer were also hurt. Over 39 people were saved in Lviv, but floor ceilings between levels collapsed. Meanwhile, Kyiv saw one man killed and two wounded. Fires at a market and a garage cooperative in the capital have since been extinguished.
“A direct hit landed on an ordinary private home housing a large family in the Kryvyi Rih district. Six people died, among them three children: a 6-year-old girl, an 11-year-old boy, and a 17-year-old boy. At least eight people were injured, including two children.” – Ivan Vyhovskyi, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine
Vyhovskyi further stated that “each massive attack brings tragedy and pain to dozens of families. The units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs—rescuers, investigators, explosives technicians, patrol officers, psychologists, medics, dog handlers, and service staff—are always present. And they prove time and again that professionalism, coordination, and dedication are stronger than terror.” National Police investigators are documenting the crime.
This missile strike highlights the ongoing toll on Ukrainian civilians amid the armed conflict. Targeting peaceful residents, including children, has sparked international alarm and condemnation. Ukrainian authorities continue rescue operations and aid efforts, but the need for civilian protection remains critical as the war persists.
