The Trolleybus Rivne — Gorodok is set to start regular service from November 1. It had been operating in test mode since January to check the overhead contact network. The new route will also be convenient for residents of the neighboring community, where the rules for privileged transportation in Rivne were recently changed. This was reported by the Acting Mayor Victor Shakiryzan.
When Will the Rivne — Gorodok Trolleybus Start Carrying Passengers
According to Shakiryzan, from November 1, the transport is expected to go on the route for passenger transport. The official explained that restoring the connection is important for the residents of both communities.
«We are also working on this, and from November 1 we need to launch it specifically for people: both residents of our city and the neighboring community of Gorodok, because it is convenient, people used to travel this way,» - noted Victor Shakiryzan.
The schedule and other details of the launch were not clarified in the comments. Earlier in Rivne, they also changed the payment system for transportation, in particular, an electronic ticket for privileged passengers was planned for the route to Gorodok.
What is Known about the Trolleybus Route to Gorodok
The Trolleybus Rivne — Gorodok last operated in 2020. The service was stopped due to reconstruction of the N-22 Rivne — Lutsk — Ustilug road, and residents of Gorodok used minibuses to travel to the regional center.
On January 6, 2026, the trolleybus was put back on the line in test mode for the first time in six years. At that time, passengers were not transported: specialists checked the condition of the overhead cable network after repairs.
«We need to restore this, because the network is built, and we, in turn, should take advantage of it. I believe this is only a development of our communities and neighboring communities,» - said Shakiryzan.
The Gorodok community has allocated 2 million UAH until the end of 2026 to compensate for free rides of privileged passengers in Rivne. The mechanism for payments is defined by an agreement between communities on transportation compensation, signed on September 29.
