The National Bank of Poland has published a fresh report on the economic activity of Ukrainians, which shows: the majority of migrants integrate into the economy, work officially, and increasingly consider long-term life in Poland. This is reported by “InPoland”.

Employment of Ukrainians in Poland

As of June 2025, about 1 million Ukrainians live in Poland, of which more than 660,000 are adults. The research demonstrates a high level of education: almost half of the women and 35% of the men have higher education. At the same time, a significant portion works below their qualifications. The main source of income remains official work — it accounts for 92% of the income of pre-war immigrants and 78% of the income of refugees.

According to the NBP, the median salary of Ukrainians is approximately 4400 zlotys net, while that of Poles is over 5300 zlotys. The reason for the difference is the employment structure. The most common fields of work among Ukrainians are:

  • industry

  • trade

  • administrative services

  • hotel and restaurant sector.

The least number of Ukrainians work in finance, law, and IT — fields where salaries are the highest.

Language and social integration

The report records an increase in the level of knowledge of Polish: 63% of Ukrainians know the language well or fluently, and only 4% do not understand Polish at all. 73% have someone among Poles to turn to for help — this indicates the deepening of social contacts and integration.

The number of those living in refugee centers is also declining. Most Ukrainians rent housing, and the share of apartment owners is increasing annually. The largest number of migrants lives in provinces with high demand for labor — Masovian, Greater Poland, and Lower Silesia.

Earlier, we reported how many Ukrainians will return from Poland home in the event of a peace agreement.
