Tragedy in Bucha

An 11-year-old boy lost his life after jumping from a construction crane in Bucha, Kyiv region. The incident occurred on May 23, when the child and another teenager trespassed onto a construction site. One of them climbed the crane and, tragically, leaped to the ground. A criminal investigation has been launched under Article 15 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which covers intentional homicide with a note of suicide. Before the tragedy, the boy sent a farewell video to his friends.

Social Issues and Their Consequences

This case comes amid growing concerns over child suicides in Ukraine. According to experts, suicide attempts are rare among children under 13, but rates spike sharply starting at ages 14–15, peaking between 16 and 19 years old.

Separately, in the Kyiv region, a 39-year-old man was recently charged with driving his 13-year-old stepdaughter to suicide through systematic abuse and humiliation. These tragic events highlight deep social problems that demand urgent action.

This tragedy underscores the critical need for social programs and support for children and adolescents who may be struggling with psychological issues.
