A woman in Buryatia had her healthy right kidney removed at an oncology clinic due to a doctors' error, who mixed up her tests with those of another patient. The Ministry of Health of the republic apologized for the resulting negative experiences, and the investigative committee opened a criminal case. This was reported by 'Glavkom' citing Russian media.

After the operation, the surgeon reported the removal of a 'tumor measuring 15 by 7 cm', but it turned out that the kidney was completely healthy.

According to the response from the Ministry of Health of Buryatia, the inspection confirmed the mistake. 'During the inspection, it was established that your results were mixed up with another patient', the document states.

In a letter, the deputy minister of health of Buryatia apologized for the situation and the medical assistance provided. A service investigation was conducted at the oncology clinic, and those responsible were held accountable.

Criminal case and demands of the victim

The investigative committee initiated a criminal case for causing serious harm to health through negligence. The victim demands either a kidney transplant from the hospital or monetary compensation. This situation reminded of the incident involving the titled Russian gymnast Lala Kramarenko, who had a healthy meniscus horn mistakenly removed by doctors in Russia.

Unfortunately, in Buryatia, a situation occurred where a woman had her healthy kidney removed due to a doctors' error. The medical institution apologized for the misunderstanding, but the team of doctors responsible will not escape disciplinary responsibility. The affected woman is now demanding compensation for the suffering caused to her.
