In Cherkasy, police detained and removed a man from a McDonald's restaurant on Svylyanskaya Street, who opened fire in the establishment. He is currently receiving medical attention, being the only injured person, according to the Cherkasy police report.
«The man entered the premises, fired several shots from a weapon, as a result, he accidentally wounded himself, and then locked himself in the restroom. He was detained by the special unit KORD, and no one else was harmed. The injured party has been hospitalized,» the police stated.
It is mentioned that the shooting was reported around 11:00 AM. Following that, the staff and visitors were evacuated from the restaurant. A police operation was immediately announced, and the restaurant was cordoned off.
Law enforcement opened a criminal proceeding under the article about hooliganism (part 4 of article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The motives of the man are being established.
