A plant for processing potatoes into French fries will soon be launched in the Cherkasy region at the 'Potato Agro' enterprise. The facility is currently under active construction, and the director Olga Lonskaya stated that the plant will have a capacity of about 150-180 thousand tons per day.
'In the register of potato seed varieties in Ukraine, there are only 2-3 varieties for French fries. We are currently trying to select other varieties for cultivation in our fields. The cultivation of potatoes for French fries production in Ukraine is practically undeveloped, so we want to gain the necessary experience. For this purpose, we collaborate with colleagues and the Ukrainian Association of Potato Producers'- noted Olga Lonskaya.
In addition, it is planned that part of the harvest from this season will be processed into mashed potatoes. The processing line is expected to be launched in early 2026.
Construction of a French fries processing plant is already underway in the Cherkasy region. The 'Potato Agro' enterprise plans to actively engage in the production of this product and explore the possibilities of growing special potato varieties for this industry in Ukraine.
