3D Mapping 'CODE OF CHERNIVTSI' Unveiled on the Facade of Yuriy Fedkovych National University

На фасаді Національного університету ім. Юрія Федьковича презентували 3D-мапування КОД ЧЕРНІВЦІВ.

Immersive Audiovisual Experience: 'CODE OF CHERNIVTSI'

In the city of Chernivtsi, a captivating audiovisual installation titled "CODE OF CHERNIVTSI" was launched on the facade of Yuriy Fedkovych National University. This large-scale 3D mapping project transforms the central front of the Metropolitan Palace—the historic Metropolitan building—into a vibrant canvas celebrating the city’s unique identity. Lasting approximately six minutes, the installation loops continuously, allowing visitors to fully experience its artistic narrative throughout the event.

The university’s historic facades, roofline, and main gateway are illuminated with specially designed lighting that highlights the architectural significance of the complex. The installation will be open for viewing on October 3 and 4, from 8 PM to 11 PM. Visitors can access the university’s central avenue free of charge, provided they observe the campus regulations during their visit.

Creators and Supporters Behind the Project

The visual design and lighting were crafted by Mykola Kabluka, an artist and lighting designer who is also the founder and creative director of Expolight. This cultural initiative is backed by Chernivtsi’s Mayor Roman Klychuk alongside Yuriy Fedkovych National University. Key sponsors include the construction firm "Yarkovytsia" and the grocery and discount store chain "Taistra Group."

"CODE OF CHERNIVTSI" serves as an artistic reflection and visualization of the city’s identity—a place where traditions, cultural diversity, freedom of thought, art, science, and education have intertwined over generations to create new meanings. It highlights the profound cultural heritage and historical significance of Chernivtsi.

This installation marks an important milestone in promoting Chernivtsi’s cultural legacy, showcasing the city’s distinctiveness and multifaceted character. Beyond drawing attention to the university’s architectural landmarks, it fosters cultural initiatives that play a crucial role in preserving local identity and attracting visitors. Projects like this emphasize the power of art in shaping community awareness and encouraging cultural dialogue.

As Chernivtsi embraces this innovative 3D mapping project, it’s worth noting that other cities in Ukraine are also exploring similar artistic expressions. For instance, Lviv recently showcased the light and sound installation 'Ivan Vakarchuk's Memory Formula', highlighting the growing trend of immersive art experiences across the country. These initiatives not only celebrate local culture but also foster a sense of community and engagement among residents and visitors alike.
