Starting from September 1, 2026, different tariffs for students and pupils will apply in Chernivtsi for public transport. Schoolchildren will be able to use trolleybuses for free, while on weekdays, they will pay half of the full fare on buses. This was reported by Chernivtsi Trolleybus Management.
The full fare for a trip on city buses is currently 20 UAH, and on trolleybuses - 16 UAH.
Fare for pupils in Chernivtsi from September 1, 2026 will cost from 0 to 20 UAH
On weekdays, pupils will pay 10 UAH for a bus trip, which is half of the current fare. On weekends and holidays, the discount will not apply, so the full fare of 20 UAH will need to be paid on the bus.
In trolleybuses, schoolchildren will be able to ride for free on all days. At the same time, it is mandatory to validate the student transport card during each trip.
The conditions for students are different. With a student ID, the fare for a trolleybus trip will be 8 UAH. Students will pay the full fare of 20 UAH on buses.
Transport cards in Chernivtsi in September 2026: where to buy them
General and student transport cards can be purchased directly from the driver, as well as at designated points of sale in the city.
Cards are sold, in particular, in stores like «Niva», «Taistra» and «Classic», the bakery «NikoNova», cafes «Adena» and «Bacara», as well as in newspaper kiosks «Molodyi Bukovynets». Places of sale are marked with the corresponding stickers for transport cards.
It should be noted that Chernivtsi is preparing to review the fare for public transport in city buses. If the executive committee supports the corresponding project decision, starting from August 1, the price of a single trip will decrease from 20 to 19 UAH.
