In Chernivtsi, from August 7 to August 9, some buses and trolleybuses will detour around the central part of the city. The reason is the closure of Ivan Franko Street between two parts of the Cathedral Square. This is reported by «Shpalta» citing the Chernivtsi Trolleybus Administration.

The restrictions will last for three days and will affect the routes that typically run through Cathedral Square and Ivan Franko Street. Passengers are advised to take these changes into account in advance, especially when traveling to the Central Market, the city center, and educational institutions on Universitetska Street.

Trolleybuses in Chernivtsi will change their turn due to the closure

Trolleybus No. 1, No. 6, and No. 8 will temporarily turn around via Dmytro Zahul and Anton Onchul Streets. After that, they will continue on their main approved routes.

Trolleybus No. 6A will also operate on a modified route: through Kafedralna, Holovna, and Universitetska Streets. This will allow maintaining communication around the closed section of Ivan Franko Street.

For passengers, this means that travel time may increase due to additional turns and congestion on central streets. Meanwhile, routes will not be canceled — transport is only changing its trajectory.

Buses in Chernivtsi will detour the center

Bus No. 9 will turn around at the intersection of Mariupolska and Oleksandr Pumnul Streets, near the stop «Central Market». Then it will proceed along its usual route.

Buses No. 5 and No. 29 will operate via Cathedral Square, Ivan Kotliarevsky and Universitetska Streets. For bus No. 5, an alternative detour in the opposite direction has been provided:

  • Universitetska Street;

  • Stepana Bandery Street;

  • Adam Mickiewicz Street;

  • Ivan Franko, Holovna, and Kafedralna Streets.

Buses No. 6, No. 8A, and No. 23 will proceed through Kafedralna, Holovna, and Universitetska Streets. These changes should be considered by passengers planning transfers in the central part of Chernivtsi.

The closure does not affect all routes in the city. The current schedule of public transport can be checked on the website of the Chernivtsi Trolleybus Administration, where schedules and online vehicle tracking are available.

Recall that since June 8 in Chernivtsi, changes in public transport operations began. Due to the end of the school year and seasonal decrease in the number of passengers, the municipal enterprise reduced the number of buses and trolleybuses on several city routes.
