Officer Discovered in Chernihiv Forest
The body of a police officer with a gunshot wound was discovered in a forested area of Chernihiv, with authorities initially treating the death as a suicide. The State Bureau of Investigation has taken charge of the case. Law enforcement officials confirmed that information about the deceased was received this afternoon, stating:
"Preliminary information indicates suicide - Chernihiv Region Police"

Separately, two other police officers have died in recent incidents:
- On 10.04.2026, Special Purpose Police Battalion fighter Vitalii Kukharchuk was killed in the line of duty. He died from a direct strike by a Russian FPV drone on his service vehicle.
- There are also reports of the death of 29-year-old Captain Vladyslav Yurchenko of the Vinnytsia Police, who succumbed to severe injuries sustained in a traffic accident.
