In June this year, everyone watched in awe as the special operation 'Spider' was successfully conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine deep in enemy territory. This event astonished the entire world, highlighting not only the courage and strength of Ukrainian defenders but also their ingenuity and professionalism.
That is why the National Bank of Ukraine dedicated a separate commemorative coin 'SECURITY SERVICE OF UKRAINE. TOGETHER WE DEFEND UKRAINE!' to this special operation and the Security Service of Ukraine.
'The Security Service of Ukraine has once again demonstrated that Ukrainian bravery, combined with intellect and ingenuity, is capable of achieving even what at first glance seems impossible. Operation 'Spider' was a harsh blow to the enemy and pride for the country. Our coin symbolically engraves not only the fact of conducting this unique operation in metal but also our respect for the Ukrainian intelligence agency, as well as the strength of the institution that protects the country every day with titanic work - precisely and uncompromisingly,' emphasized NBU Chairman Andriy Pyshny.
Design and characteristics of the coin
The commemorative coin has a denomination of 5 hryvnias. The obverse features a stylized image of a Trojan horse and the emblem of the Security Service of Ukraine with the motto 'SECURITY SERVICE OF UKRAINE. TOGETHER WE DEFEND UKRAINE!'.
The reverse depicts the silhouette of a drone with a combat part, a strategic aircraft, and a web symbolizing the strategic coherence of Operation 'Spider'. There is also a tactical scale with numbers.
The mintage of the coin is up to 75,000 pieces in souvenir packaging. The coin will be available for purchase in the NBU online store starting from December 16.
