New Service Enters Beta Testing Phase
The Diia app is now beta testing a new feature for filing property and income tax declarations. This service enables citizens to report their earnings or apply for a tax rebate entirely online, significantly simplifying the declaration process. This move is part of a broader digital transformation of public services in Ukraine.
Eligibility for the New Online Service
The new service is designed for citizens who are required to declare their income, as well as for those seeking to reclaim a portion of their paid Personal Income Tax (PIT). Eligible individuals include:
- Those who received official salary income;
- Individuals who, in the reporting year, incurred expenses for education, medical treatment, life insurance, mortgage payments, or other costs stipulated by the Tax Code.
To join the beta test, users must be Ukrainian citizens and qualify for a tax rebate. It is important to note that this service is currently available exclusively for individuals, not legal entities.
"In short, there's no longer a need to visit government offices. Everything can be done online." - Diia Press Service
The introduction of this service in the Diia app marks a significant step in the digitalization of government services in Ukraine. It aligns with a global trend where online platforms are becoming the standard for citizen-state interaction. Streamlining the declaration process could improve public awareness of tax obligations and rights, potentially encouraging greater voluntary tax compliance.
