In Dnipro, preparations are underway for a fare increase in public transportation. Due to the sharp rise in fuel prices, the fare may increase to 25 UAH, with a final decision expected in the coming weeks. This is reported by Suspilne.

Bus fares in Dnipro are set to increase: what tariffs are being considered

According to city council representative Oleksandr Leshchenko, carriers insist on raising fares due to the increased cost of diesel fuel. Currently, a draft decision has been prepared with a maximum fare of 25 UAH.

At the same time, various options are being considered:

  • possible increase of 2–5 UAH
  • the final fare may be 22–25 UAH
  • carriers are asking to set the level up to 30 UAH

According to estimates, the economically justified fare already exceeds 30 UAH per trip.

Fare in Dnipro: reasons for the increase and residents' reactions

The main reason for the increase is the sharp spike in fuel prices. According to Viktor Bevzyuk, director of the transport company, businesses are operating without profit, and diesel costs exceed 152 thousand UAH per day.

He warns:

  • without raising fares, up to 40% of buses may be reduced
  • carriers risk going bankrupt
  • expenses for salaries, taxes, and electricity are increasing

Fuel market analyst Oleksandr Sirenko explains that the increase is related to the situation in the Middle East. According to him, the price of diesel on global markets has almost doubled within a month.

At the same time, residents of the city are reacting negatively to the potential increase. People note that this will significantly impact family budgets, especially for those who use marshrutkas daily.

It is expected that the new tariffs may be implemented as early as mid-April or early May after being reviewed by the executive committee.

Recall that in Kyiv, the fare increased from March 14, 2026.
