Detention in Dnipro

Two men were detained in Dnipro for extorting $35 thousand. The incident occurred on January 6 at a restaurant where the suspects threatened the victim and his family due to alleged 'improper behavior'. During the receipt of the first part of the illicit gain amounting to $10 thousand, law enforcement detained the criminals.

The suspects have already been notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. It is noteworthy that the court has chosen preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to bail, indicating the seriousness of the committed crime.

Relevance of the fight against extortion

It is worth adding that from 2021 to 2023, a criminal organization that embezzled over 71 million hryvnias of budget funds was uncovered in Prykarpattia. This case highlights the relevance of fighting against extortion and organized crime in Ukraine.

The detention of suspects in Dnipro occurs against the backdrop of escalating problems of extortion and organized crime in the country. The authorities are actively working to enhance security measures and combat criminal groups. This incident, like previous cases, indicates the need to continue reforms in law enforcement agencies and ensure law and order to protect citizens.
