Russian special services organized the deployment of a disinformation campaign in Europe aimed at undermining trust in Ukraine. According to an investigation by the Austrian publication Profil, the special services conducted actions in Austria and other European cities, using fake Ukrainian flags.
The head of this disinformation network turned out to be Austrian Jan Marsalek, who collaborated with Russian special services. Together with Bulgarian Orlin Rusev, they placed far-right symbols under Ukrainian flags and created fake websites mimicking the centers of the Ukrainian Azov regiment.
The goal of this operation was to create the illusion of significant support for 'Azov' in Europe and to spread propaganda information about Nazis in Europe, particularly hoping to draw the attention of Germany and Austria to their historical past.
Additionally, Hungarian agents were conducting espionage activities in Brussels, trying to recruit European officials. This new information seems quite alarming, experts note, and could have significant implications for the situation in Europe.
