Private carriers in Ivano-Frankivsk are initiating an increase in the price of travel in minibuses from 20 to 25 hryvnias. The mayor Ruslan Martsinkiv proposes to tie the fare change to the installation of validators. Earlier, the city had already reviewed fares for travel. This was mentioned at the operational meeting of the city council on October 14.

When will validators be installed in Ivano-Frankivsk minibuses

During the meeting, Martsinkiv asked when private carriers would start accepting payments through validators. The head of the City Transport and Communications Department Vasyl Kudziuk replied that the equipment should be installed:

  • October 15 — on route No. 21;

  • next — on route No. 34;

  • later — on other routes in the city.

According to Kudziuk, by the end of 2026, most private transport is planned to be equipped with validators. In Ivano-Frankivsk, the rules for using validators for passengers have already been changed, especially on certain routes.

How much may the travel cost increase

Martsinkiv stated that private carriers propose to increase the fare from 20 to 25 hryvnias per trip. The mayor wants to link the potential rise in price to the transition to payment through validators.

In March 2026, a temporary fare of 20 hryvnias was introduced in the city. Later, the travel cost was reviewed again: the price depended on the method of payment. At that time, it was explained in the city that public transport fares are rising due to the situation in the fuel and energy markets.

At the operational meeting on October 14, the new fare was not approved. For now, it is about the carriers' proposal and the mayor's position regarding its connection with the installation of validators.
