Two Foreign Nationals Drown in Kyiv's Hydropark

Двоє іноземців загинули у водах Гідропарку в Києві

Fatal Incident Strikes Kyiv's Hydropark

Over the past weekend, two foreign men lost their lives while swimming in Kyiv's Hydropark, located in the Dnipro district. The victims, aged 20 and 25, jumped off a pier into the Dnipro River and failed to resurface. Both were citizens of another country, and their bodies were recovered by rescue teams after authorities were alerted to the incident.

“Police received a report that during swimming in the Dnipro River, two men jumped from a pier and did not come back up. Rescuers later found the bodies of the deceased, who turned out to be foreigners aged 20 and 25,” stated the Kyiv police press service.

A pre-trial investigation has been launched under Article 115, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, with an additional note of accidental death. Law enforcement is currently working to establish all circumstances and the final causes of this tragedy.

Additional Water-Related Incidents

Other drowning cases have also occurred in various regions. In early May, the body of a young man was discovered lifeless in a lake in the Bucha district. A crew from the 58th State Fire and Rescue Unit in the town of Klavdievo-Tarasove responded to the scene. Similarly, in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district, rescuers retrieved a man's body from the water. A report of a drowning near the Dnipro embankment came in on the evening of May 5, with the victim's body found at a depth of 4 meters, 50 meters from the shore. In the Bila Tserkva district, a 21-year-old woman also lost her life.

This tragic event underscores the critical importance of water safety, particularly in crowded areas. Such incidents serve as a stark reminder for vacationers to exercise caution while swimming, especially in unfamiliar waters. Law enforcement and rescue services continue to investigate the circumstances of these cases, which may highlight potential risks and provide recommendations to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

This recent tragic event is part of a worrying trend, as authorities have reported multiple incidents of drownings in the Dnipro River.
