In Kharkiv, Italian 12-meter Irisbus buses are being tested on snow

In Kharkiv, municipal drivers tested the operation of five Italian buses from the second batch of humanitarian aid provided to the city by partners from Turin. The vehicles were tested in winter conditions, particularly while driving on snow. This was reported by the mayor of Kharkiv Ihor Terekhov.

Irisbus Buses in Kharkiv: What is Already Known

These are not new, but well-maintained city buses of Italian manufacture, which Kharkiv residents have seen multiple times on the city's streets. According to the city mayor Ihor Terekhov, the second batch of humanitarian aid consists of ten vehicles. Half of them have already arrived in Kharkiv and will soon be deployed on city routes.

Although the brand was not officially mentioned, the buses can be identified as Irisbus city-class buses by their distinctive features in the photos.

City Buses from Italy: Technical Features

The 12-meter buses have a capacity of 98 passengers, with 26 seats designated for sitting. A space for a wheelchair or a stroller is located before the middle doors. The low floor and body tilting system towards the curb facilitate passenger boarding and alighting.

Main characteristics of the buses:

  • length – 11.99 m, width – 2.5 m, height – 3 m

  • three doors in a 2+2+2 configuration

  • diesel engine with a power of 290 hp

  • environmental standard – Euro 5

The batch of buses departed from Turin to Ukraine on December 14. On January 9, the Italian side again sent another group of vehicles from its municipal enterprise GTT to Kharkiv.
