Four criminals have been detained in the Kharkiv region who attempted to commit a robbery against an elderly woman. The criminals knew that the woman's son was serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and hoped to steal his money. The police prevented the crime and detained the criminals at the scene.
The police established that two men broke into the woman's apartment, tied her up, and began demanding money. The woman offered them her savings for medicine, but the criminals decided to take only her phone and flee. Fortunately, the police were nearby and arrested the criminals.
'The elderly woman had only 2 thousand hryvnias, which she was saving for medicine. She offered to give this money, but the attackers refused to take it, only taking the mobile phone. When they exited the apartment, they were immediately detained by the police,' said police chief Oleksandr Zhidkov.
The criminals face 8 to 12 years in prison with confiscation of property for robbery. The mayor of Kharkiv expressed support for the residents during this difficult time, urging unity and belief in victory over the enemy.
