In Kherson, trolleybus traffic was suspended from May 4: when it will be restored

У Херсоні призупинили роботу тролейбусів з 4 травня: коли відновлять рух?

In Kherson, from May 4, the trolleybus traffic was temporarily suspended due to a deterioration in the security situation. The restrictions are related to the threat of shelling in the area where the transport is located, so electric transport will not operate for at least a week. This was reported by the head of the city military administration, Yaroslav Shanko.

Trolleys in Kherson: when traffic will be restored

Trolleybus traffic in the city has been suspended until approximately May 10. According to Yaroslav Shanko, the decision was made due to the escalation of the situation in the area of the depot and routes.

The restrictions are temporary and will last for at least a week. The final deadlines for restoration will depend on the security situation in the city.

Transport in Kherson: how buses are operating

Despite the suspension of electric transport, bus services continue to operate. As of the morning of May 4, 32 buses are running in the city.

Currently, 14 routes are active:

  • № 2, 3, 4, 5, 7

  • № 10, 14, 16, 17, 20

  • № 33, 38, 47, 48.

Buses remain the primary mode of public transport during the restrictions.

Shelling in Kherson: how it affected transport

The reason for the suspension was attacks by Russian troops on public transport. In particular, on May 2, drones hit a minibus in the Dniprovskyi district and a bus in the city center. As a result of one of the strikes, one driver was injured.

Constant shelling forces the authorities to adjust transport operations. Some routes are shortened, and traffic may be temporarily stopped due to risks to passengers and workers.

Before the full-scale war, there were 24 bus and 7 trolleybus routes operating in Kherson. Now the city supports only 16 bus and 4 trolleybus directions.

Due to damaged infrastructure, power outages, and new attacks, transport movement remains unstable, and restoration depends primarily on the security situation.

Let us remind you that the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, reported on the tragedy that occurred on May 2, 2026, in Kherson, where a Russian FPV drone struck civilian transport. The incident occurred in the Dniprovskyi district of the city around 07:00, when a minibus was attacked.
