On October 28 in Khmelnytskyi, around 3:00 PM, a powerful explosion occurred in a multi-apartment building on Ternopilska Street, 34/2. According to preliminary information from the State Emergency Service and the police, the cause was the detonation of household gas.



'Half an hour ago, a loud explosion was heard in Khmelnytskyi. It is not related to military actions. Preliminary - household gas exploded in the multi-storey building at Ternopilska, 34/2. Part of the building has collapsed, and part is seriously damaged. We are most concerned about human lives; we do not have information about victims yet. However, there may be people under the rubble,' - reported Khmelnytskyi Mayor Oleksandr Symchyshyn.

The explosion destroyed three floors of the building. All emergency services promptly arrived at the scene: the investigative operational group of the police, patrol officers, experts, dog handlers, and three ambulance crews.


According to the director of the Khmelnytskyi Regional Center for Emergency Medical Assistance and Disaster Medicine Oleksandr Kostiuk, by 4:12 PM, two people had sought medical assistance. 'A 12-year-old child has an acute stress reaction, a man has a cut leg,' - he clarified.


Relevant services have begun clearing the rubble. Information about possible victims under the debris is being clarified.



'In Khmelnytskyi, the gas explosion completely destroyed three floors of the apartment building. But yes, we are ready for the heating season,' - commented the situation by housing and utilities expert Oleg Popenko.

Let us remind you that the heating season in Ukraine officially started on October 28, as announced by President Volodymyr Zelensky the day before.

Fortunately, no information about victims has been received, but emergency services continue to search for possible injured persons among the debris.
