In Khmelnytskyi, public transport is gradually transitioning to exclusively electronic payment for travel. In the future, it will not be possible to pay with cash either on buses or minivans. This is reported by vsim.ua.
Regarding the plans of the city authorities, the deputy mayor of Khmelnytskyi, Mykola Vavryshchuk, reported in a story by TRC 'Misto'. According to him, the large-capacity public transport is already almost completely equipped with cashless payment systems.
Electronic payment for travel in Khmelnytskyi: what is already working
According to the official, the large-capacity buses are equipped with validators almost 100%, except for a few technical moments. Passengers can pay for travel in several ways:
-
with an electronic ticket;
-
with a bank card;
-
with a smartphone using contactless payment.
The city authorities emphasize that such a system allows for better control of passenger flow and accounting of preferential transportation.
Cashless payments in minivans and refusal of cash
In the near future, similar systems are planned to be installed in small minivans as well. It is expected that this will happen already in the spring. At the same time, the city council acknowledges that the share of passengers using cards is currently lower than projected.
Mykola Vavryshchuk noted that cashless payment is not only a convenience but also a tool for transparent control of income and the actual number of passengers. In the future, the city plans to completely abandon cash transactions in transport and urges residents to adapt to the changes in advance.
Let us remind you that in December, Khmelnytskyi received 8 new trolleybuses, including for the first time - vehicles with an autonomous range of up to 20 kilometers.
