In Kalush, Ivano-Frankivsk region discussions have begun regarding the increase of tariffs for public transport. Transporters propose to raise the price of a single journey from 15 to 25 UAH, explaining this by the sharp increase in fuel costs, maintenance of transport, and operation of routes.
This became known during a public discussion of the draft decision regarding new tariffs, reports «Suspilne».
Kalush transporters propose to raise the fare to 25 UAH
The issue of reviewing the fare was discussed by representatives of the city authorities, the communal enterprise «EkoResource», and private transporters.
According to the director of the communal enterprise «EkoResource», Oleksandr Smoliansky, the current tariff no longer covers the actual costs of transporting passengers.
Fuel has become significantly more expensive. If during the previous calculation of the tariff the price was about 52 UAH per liter, it is now approximately 87 UAH. Thus, fuel costs have risen by 67%.
Why they want to revise the fare in Kalush
The fare for public transport in Kalush was last changed in 2025.
According to the head of the Economic Development Department of the City Council, Yuriy Sokolvsky, in 2026, the city remains among the few in Ukraine where the fare has not been reviewed despite the increase in transporters' costs.
He noted that the economic justification for the new tariff was carried out by an audit company in accordance with established requirements.
According to calculations, the cost of a trip on different routes ranges from 25.06 to 25.17 UAH.
How the tariffs look in other cities of Ukraine
During the discussion, the fare in comparison with other cities of the country was also reviewed.
Currently, passengers pay:
- in Lviv — from 26 to 30 UAH;
- in Lutsk — 34 UAH;
- in Cherkasy — 25 UAH;
- in Drohobych — from 25 to 28 UAH;
- in Uzhhorod — from 20 to 23 UAH.
The final decision regarding the change of the tariff in Kalush has not yet been made. After completing all procedures, it will be reviewed and approved by the relevant local government bodies.
