Today, September 18, the first autumn frosts have been recorded in the highlands of the Carpathians. This is reported by 'Glavkom' referencing mountain rescuers in Prykarpattya.
"As of 08:00, September 18, 2025, it is cloudy on Mount Pip Ivan Chornogirskyi, foggy, with a northwestern wind at 8 m/s, and the air temperature is -2°C," the report states.
In the third decade of September, a sharp change in weather conditions is expected. After September 20, cold Arctic air masses will arrive in Ukraine, and the first ground frosts may be recorded in the northern, eastern, and western regions.
Cooler days are anticipated, but this does not mean the end of warmth. The weather will fluctuate. According to meteorologists, from September 16 to 18, the weather character in Ukraine will gradually change.
The first signs of autumn are already felt in the Carpathians, indicating the beginning of the cold period in mountainous areas. A decrease in air temperature is forecasted, so travelers and tourists should be cautious during hikes in these regions. This also indicates that autumn is approaching in Ukraine, and significant changes in weather conditions can be expected soon.
