Illegal Border Crossing in the Carpathians
In the Carpathians, border guards from the Chernivtsi unit found a man who was attempting to illegally cross the border into Romania and got lost. The man, lying in the forest on the snow, independently called for help, contacting the hot line from the Verkhovyna district of Ivano-Frankivsk region. He had been wandering the Carpathians for five days before he was found.
Search Conditions and Consequences
Rescuers searched for the man for about 12 hours. At the time of discovery, he was in difficult conditions as he had been in the cold. The man is 30 years old and hails from the Dnipropetrovsk region. After providing assistance, a protocol was drawn up against him under Article 204-1 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offences.
This incident highlights the risks faced by individuals attempting to cross the border illegally. The dangerous natural conditions of the Carpathians can pose a serious threat to life, especially in winter. Law enforcement continues to work on ensuring safety at the border and preventing such incidents in the future.
