A 51-year-old man was detained in Kyiv for the rape of a 16-year-old girl

У Києві затримали чоловіка, підозрюваного у злочині проти неповнолітньої.

The police in Kyiv detained a 51-year-old man for the rape of a 16-year-old girl and decided to keep him in custody. The basis for this was the suspicion of rape under part 3 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.



It was revealed that after meeting with an adult acquaintance, the girl stayed in the apartment with her friend's companion. The man, having devised a plan to stay overnight, committed violence against her in their house. After this, the offender was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.



Court decision and possible consequences



The Darnytsia District Court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for 60 days without the possibility of bail. If found guilty, the man faces between 5 to 7 years of imprisonment according to the law. Details can be found on the website of the Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv.
