Roadworks Disrupt Traffic in Kyiv
On May 13, scheduled maintenance led to a temporary shutdown of traffic lights at the intersection of Velyka Vasylkivska and Saksahanskoho streets in Kyiv. The lights were out from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM as part of city efforts to upgrade road infrastructure.
Additionally, until May 14, vehicle movement is partially restricted on the Paton Bridge (officially named after O. Ye. Paton). The limitation applies to the first lane heading from the left bank to the right bank. These urgent repair works are expected to cause congestion in neighboring districts as well.
Major Overhaul on Valeriy Lobanovskyi Avenue
In the Solomianskyi district, a comprehensive renovation of Valeriy Lobanovskyi Avenue has also begun. The project incorporates barrier-free design principles, aiming to improve conditions for all road users.
Authorities urge drivers and pedestrians to stay alert in the affected areas, strictly follow rules for navigating uncontrolled intersections, and plan their routes ahead of time to account for possible traffic jams in the Holosiivskyi and Pecherskyi districts, according to the Traffic Management Center.
These planned repairs reflect the city government’s active push to enhance Kyiv’s road network. While temporary traffic restrictions may cause some inconvenience for drivers and pedestrians, carrying them out is essential for ensuring long-term safety and comfort. It is crucial that road users adapt to these changes, plan their journeys in advance, and comply with established regulations. This approach will help reduce congestion and boost overall road safety in the capital.
In addition to the current traffic disruptions, the city has initiated a significant renovation project on Valeriy Lobanovskyi Avenue, which incorporates accessible sidewalks. This overhaul aims to enhance safety and mobility for all residents and visitors. For more details on the improvements being made, read about the major upgrades to Lobanovskyi Avenue.
