In Kyiv, a man climbed into a barrel of resin to rob a supermarket

Incident at a Kyiv Supermarket

A 26-year-old man was detained in Kyiv for attempting to discreetly rob a grocery store in the Sviatoshynskyi district. To do this, he climbed into a barrel of resin at a construction site, broke the glass doors with his foot, and entered the store. The man stole:

  • cigarettes
  • juice
  • candies
  • orange
  • grapefruit
  • wet wipes

However, the guards prevented him from taking more goods, after which he fled.

On his way home, the detained man showed aggression by throwing stones at the windows of a lyceum. The police, exercising their authority, detained the man under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. It took law enforcement over five hours, 12 liters of oil, and 4 liters of detergent, as well as shoe brushes, to wash the suspect off the resin.

Legal Consequences

The man was charged under part 4 of Article 186 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which concerns robbery, as well as part 1 of Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which regulates hooliganism.
