During the heat in Kyiv, the hottest in an editorial test turned out to be the interior of the Pesa tram. The infrared thermometer recorded temperatures inside the carriage up to 41.7°C, while the lowest figure was in the metro. This is reported by «Informator».
Temperature in Kyiv's transport: measurement results
Journalists measured the temperature during the day, in the hottest period, in an unair-conditioned bus, a Pesa tram, and a red line metro carriage on an above-ground section.
The results were as follows:

metro: 27.8°C;

bus: 29.9°C;

Pesa tram: 41.5-41.7°C.
The metro performed best during the test while the train was in the tunnel. After emerging to the surface, the carriage quickly heated up, and passengers felt heavy air and weak ventilation.
In the bus, open windows did not provide significant relief. In the tram, large windows and metal interior elements heated up significantly under the sun. The snowflake symbol on the carriage did not mean that the air conditioning was truly functioning.
Why 41.7°C is not the air temperature
An important detail: the infrared thermometer measures the surface temperature, not the air temperature inside the carriage. Therefore, 41.7°C in the test is the heating of the internal elements of the tram, not the officially recorded air temperature for all passengers.
The test is also not a comprehensive study of the entire rolling stock of Kyiv. Comfort is influenced by route, cabin occupancy, travel time, ventilation state, shade at stops, and air conditioning operation in a specific vehicle.
Heat in Kyiv's transport: what it means for passengers
Even with relatively lower figures, traveling in an overcrowded cabin can be exhausting. Special attention should be paid by the elderly, passengers with cardiovascular diseases, and parents with small children.
In the hottest hours, it is better, if possible, to choose air-conditioned transport, to have water with you, and not to ignore weakness, dizziness, or nausea. If your condition worsens, it is advisable to get off at the nearest stop and find a cool place.
