Accident in the Darnytskyi district
On June 26, a serious collision between a passenger car and a truck occurred on Architect Verbytskyi Street in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district. The car ended up wedged beneath the truck, trapping the driver. Rescue teams from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, along with medical personnel and law enforcement, responded to the scene. The driver was freed and rushed to the intensive care unit of a local hospital in critical condition.
Second truck-related incident
This was the second major incident involving large vehicles in the Darnytskyi district that day. Earlier, at around 11:40 a.m., two Mercedes trucks collided on Boryspilske Highway. That crash claimed two lives. According to reports, the driver of the first truck, a 60-year-old man, had stopped due to a mechanical issue and was underneath his vehicle performing repairs. The second truck, driven by a 37-year-old man, failed to notice the stationary vehicle, leading to the tragedy.
After the impact, the second Mercedes truck ran over its own driver, and the parked truck was pushed forward, crushing him. Both men died at the scene before medical help arrived.
These incidents highlight the critical importance of road safety, particularly involving heavy trucks. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances of both crashes. Drivers are urged to strictly follow traffic regulations and pay close attention to the technical condition of their vehicles to help prevent such tragedies in the future.
These recent incidents underscore the growing concern over truck-related accidents in the Kyiv region. In a separate event, a truck veered into oncoming traffic, resulting in injuries to four individuals. Such occurrences highlight the urgent need for improved road safety measures.
