In Kyiv, new low-floor trolleybuses and buses have started operating, aimed at increasing the comfort and accessibility of public transport for passengers. Some of the new vehicles are already on city routes, with the next batch expected in the coming weeks. This was reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko .

New trolleybuses of Kyiv are already operating on the routes

The capital received the first batch of eight new trolleybuses purchased for KP 'Kyivpastrans' as part of a contract with a Ukrainian manufacturer. In total, the city is set to receive 16 such vehicles.

An additional eight trolleybuses are planned to be delivered by the end of July. After the arrival of the entire batch, the new vehicles will be able to operate on various city routes and gradually replace outdated vehicles.

All trolleybuses have a low-floor design, which facilitates boarding for people with disabilities, parents with strollers, and elderly passengers.

New buses of Kyiv were purchased with support from the EIB

Along with the trolleybuses, five new buses produced in Turkey also hit the roads. They are the last delivery in a batch of 85 buses purchased for the capital.

The bus procurement took place as part of the 'Ukrainian Urban Public Transport' project, funded with the support of the European Investment Bank. The amount of the loan agreement for the purchase of transport was 18.5 million euros.

Kyiv's public transport is becoming more accessible

The new buses and trolleybuses have the same length — 12 meters. They are equipped with modern systems for passenger comfort and safety.

Among the equipment:

  • ramps for passengers with reduced mobility;
  • air conditioning and heating;
  • information boards;
  • audio announcement systems for stops;
  • video surveillance cameras;
  • LED interior lighting;
  • tinted windows.

The update of the fleet is part of a modernization program for public transport in the capital, aimed at enhancing accessibility and improving conditions for passengers.

In recent years, Kyiv has continued to renew its public transport fleet with its own funds and international financial programs. The new buses and trolleybuses are expected to replace some of the outdated fleet and improve the quality of transport services in the city.

It is noteworthy that in Kyiv, partial traffic restrictions were introduced on one of the key transport arteries in the Pechersk district for almost a month.
