'Horizons of Hope' Photo Exhibition in Kyiv
A new photo exhibition titled 'Horizons of Hope' has opened at the Zoloti Vorota metro station in Kyiv, dedicated to supporting the families of Ukrainian defenders who are missing, held captive, or have been killed. The exhibition will run until May 25, as announced by the Kyiv Metro municipal enterprise.
The project features 30 women from various regions of Ukraine, photographed in traditional Ukrainian women's attire from the 19th and 20th centuries, highlighting their cultural heritage. Ethnographer Olena Gromova contributed to creating the looks, adding special significance to the display. The exhibition is organized by the non-governmental organization 'Women of the Clan'.
Social Context
This exhibition also coincides with key dates: Mother's Day, Vyshyvanka Day, and Family Day, giving it added relevance in celebrating the role of women in society, especially during wartime. The launch of 'Horizons of Hope' is an important step in supporting those coping with loss and provides an opportunity to draw attention to the challenges faced by families of Ukrainian defenders.
Beyond visually showcasing Ukraine's cultural heritage, 'Horizons of Hope' aims to support families who have endured severe losses due to the war. In this way, the project serves as a platform to highlight the struggles Ukrainian women face in difficult times and underscores their contribution to restoring and preserving national identity.
