Traffic on Kyiv’s Great Ring Road to Be Restricted for Three Months

Обмеження руху на великій окружній дорозі Києва триватиме три місяці

Temporary Traffic Restrictions in Kyiv

Starting May 19 and lasting until August 20, major repair work on the overpass crossing the tram tracks along the Great Ring Road will force traffic restrictions in Kyiv. During this period, vehicle access will be limited to the first lane and part of the second lane heading toward Lytovskyi Avenue. Pedestrian movement on the sidewalk in the same direction will be temporarily closed as crews carry out structural repairs.

Major Overhaul of Lobanovskyi Avenue

In addition, a full-scale renovation has begun on Valeriy Lobanovskyi Avenue in the Solomyanskyi District. The project is being designed with accessibility principles in mind to improve usability for all residents. Meanwhile, the deadline for repairing the pedestrian sidewalk on the Orikhivatskyi Overpass has been extended to May 17, with partial lane closures in the right lane for vehicles heading toward Demiivska Square. These measures aim to upgrade infrastructure and enhance road safety across the city.

These traffic limitations are part of a broader effort to modernize Kyiv’s road network, focusing on key overpasses and avenues. While the work may cause temporary delays for drivers and pedestrians, it is intended to boost safety and accessibility on major routes. Residents are encouraged to stay informed about the changes and adjust their travel plans accordingly.

As the city undertakes significant infrastructure improvements, understanding the full scope of ongoing traffic changes is crucial. For instance, the upcoming closures of key bridges and overpasses, including the Southern Bridge and the overpass near Chernihivska Metro, will further impact traffic flow in the capital. Staying informed about these developments will help residents navigate the evolving landscape of Kyiv's roadways more effectively.
