High-Level Ukraine-U.S. Talks Take Shape

Volodymyr Zelensky says Ukraine is preparing to host envoys from President Donald Trump’s team, with preliminary dates already set and the American delegation expected in Kyiv shortly. The Ukrainian president convened the negotiators who handle contacts with the White House to review the details of the upcoming meetings. Washington has confirmed that talks are planned in both Moscow and Kyiv.

The planned visits follow the Trump-Zelensky meeting in Washington, where it emerged that Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have agreed to come to Kyiv. Both teams now estimate that the two envoys could arrive in the Ukrainian capital within the next two weeks. Zelensky underscored the significance of the diplomatic push, saying:

“We are essentially in communication with them 24/7 and are now preparing for the meetings.”

According to sources, Zelensky has said in private that months of work by his advisers have changed Trump’s perspective on the war and Ukraine’s prospects. The intense diplomatic activity reflects the steady channel between the two governments and Kyiv’s effort to strengthen its international position amid the ongoing conflict. These discussions also underline the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States at a time of high regional tension. Regular communication between the two sides points to shared efforts on security matters and to U.S. support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. A successful outcome of the talks could have major implications for international politics and for Ukraine’s economic situation.
