In Kyiv, a meeting was held at the Kozak Drive fund with Samira Samedova - the only Azerbaijani female pilot serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. She has participated in combat operations since 2014 and is currently serving in the southern direction, focusing on the use of drones.
“We conduct aerial reconnaissance using drones. My job involves preparing the aircraft for flight, monitoring their technical condition, and ensuring safe return,” the pilot shared.
Samira Samedova was born in 1983 and has lived in Ukraine since the late 1980s. Before the war, she was engaged in entrepreneurship and is raising three children. During the meeting, representatives of the fund and the head of the Congress of Azerbaijanis in Ukraine provided humanitarian aid to the pilot and her unit.
Women’s Participation in the Armed Forces of Ukraine
As of January 1, 2025, over 70,000 women serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, more than 5,500 of whom are directly on the front lines.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding a meeting with the Azerbaijani pilot, who actively participates in combat operations. Her contribution and professionalism are important steps in supporting international cooperation and understanding among nations. Furthermore, the humanitarian aid collected during the meeting demonstrates support and respect for women who have chosen to serve in the Armed Forces.
