Kyiv and Region Face Extended Power Outages: Affected Areas and Cause Identified

Київ та околиці стикаються з тривалими відключеннями електроенергії: визначено постраждалі райони та їх причини.

Power Outages in Kyiv and the Surrounding Region

Residents in specific districts of Kyiv and the wider region are experiencing extended electricity cuts, implemented under the direction of Ukrenergo, the national power company. In the capital, the affected areas are the Solomianskyi, Holosiivskyi, and Sviatoshynskyi districts, while in the Kyiv region, the Buchanskyi district is impacted.

On March 10, some Kyiv residents faced scheduled blackouts lasting up to 16.5 hours without power. This was caused by a critical overload of equipment at one of the substations. It is important to note that this situation is not related to new missile or drone attacks. The energy grid has been a frequent target since the full-scale invasion began. As of now, the situation has been stabilized, and a transition is underway from emergency restrictions back to individual outage schedules.

Checking Outage Schedules

Kyiv residents can check the outage schedules using the Kyiv Digital app or the DTEK Kyiv Grids chatbot. For those living in the surrounding region, information on outage schedules is available through the DTEK Telegram channel.

The increase in the duration of power cuts, particularly in the capital's districts, highlights the ongoing instability of the energy system, reflecting its vulnerability to various strains. While not linked to new attacks, the critical equipment overload underscores the urgent need for further infrastructure reinforcement and repair. These prolonged outages significantly disrupt daily life, making it essential for residents to monitor the latest schedule updates to plan their activities around the current energy realities.
