In Kyiv, residents are increasingly noticing trams and trolleybuses that move around the city without passengers and do not stop at stops. As explained in the KP management, this is not a breakdown in transport operations and not ignoring the residents.
The reason is that the capital's electric transport is currently operating in the format of technical trips. Such trips are necessary to maintain the overhead line, tracks, and other infrastructure in working condition under energy restrictions.
Why trams and trolleybuses in Kyiv run without passengers
The KP explains:
- technical trips do not have a fixed schedule;
- one tram or trolleybus may change routes several times during the day;
- the travel time is unstable and not tied to stops for boarding.
Under such conditions, it is impossible to safely and organizedly transport passengers. A similar situation already arose during previous blackouts.
When will Kyiv's electric transport return to normal mode
The KP management notes that trams and trolleybuses will start operating in standard mode again after the situation with electricity supply stabilizes. At the same time, the company does not expect quick changes in the coming weeks.
«It is unlikely that this should be expected at least this month, but with warming, the situation should improve», — the KP notes.
Remember, in Kyiv last week, due to a difficult situation in the energy system, the movement of all ground electric transport was temporarily stopped.
