Starting from March 14 in Kyiv, the cost of travel in some private minibus taxis will increase. At the same time, the fares for public transport in the capital will remain unchanged. This is reported by RBK-Ukraine.
The cost of travel in Kyiv minibus taxis will rise to 20 hryvnias
The Department of Transport Infrastructure of the Kyiv City State Administration reported that some private carriers will raise their transportation fares by 5 hryvnias. As a result, the cost of one trip will be 20 hryvnias.
The city administration explained that the authorities set fares only for municipal transport, while prices for routes operated by private carriers are regulated by the companies themselves.
The carriers cite several reasons for increasing the cost:
the sharp rise in diesel fuel prices;
increased prices for spare parts;
higher maintenance costs for vehicles.
In particular, announcements about the new fare have already appeared in minibus #434. Earlier in January, a similar increase was noted on route #556, but that fare was quickly returned to the previous level.
Municipal transport in Kyiv will remain at old fares
The Kyiv City State Administration emphasized that there are currently no plans to change the cost of travel in municipal transport.
The old fares will continue to apply for:
the metro;
trams;
trolleybuses;
city buses.
Currently, a single trip on municipal transport costs 8 hryvnias, and when purchasing a pass for 50 trips, the price decreases to 6.5 hryvnias.
The city authorities note that they are trying to keep fares affordable for passengers on municipal transport.
Recall that in Ivano-Frankivsk, the cost of travel in public transport will rise from March 16.
