Explosive Ordnance Disposal in Kyiv
At a commercial site in Kyiv's Obolon district, bomb disposal teams recovered debris from a Russian Kh-69 missile along with 12 cluster submunitions. While some of the submunitions had detonated, a dozen explosive devices remained in an active, combat-ready state. Specialists from the explosive ordnance unit safely removed them and handed them over to the State Emergency Service (DSNS) for controlled destruction at a training range. Police also collected fragments of the missile's casing.
Authorities have urged the public to exercise extreme caution: anyone who spots suspicious or potentially explosive items should avoid approaching or moving them. Instead, citizens are instructed to immediately report such findings to the police by dialing 102.
Assault on the Capital
In the early hours of July 2, 2026, Russian occupation forces launched a massive attack on Kyiv. The capital endured one of its heaviest bombardments, with the enemy striking residential buildings and civilian infrastructure using drones, ballistic and cruise missiles, and hypersonic Zircon missiles. A total of 28 locations across the city were hit; as of this report, 20 fatalities have been confirmed, and search-and-rescue operations at the rubble sites are ongoing.
The large-scale missile and drone assault also damaged the city's energy infrastructure. Due to destruction at facilities operated by DTEK, parts of Kyiv are currently without electricity.
This incident underscores the severe danger posed by ongoing hostilities in Ukraine. Unexploded ordnance left behind after attacks remains a threat to civilians, and its timely detection and disposal are critical for public safety. Law enforcement agencies continue to mitigate the consequences of these strikes and work to prevent future occurrences.
As the situation in Kyiv remains critical following the recent attacks, local authorities have mobilized resources to support affected residents. Emergency assistance is being coordinated to address the urgent needs of those impacted by the violence.
