The exhibition "Saving the Capital" in Kyiv
An exhibition of documentary photography titled "Saving the Capital" has opened in Kyiv at the National Taras Shevchenko Museum. This exhibition project is dedicated to the work of rescuers during the full-scale war and the consequences of Russian attacks. The exhibition will run from September 3 to September 20, 2023.
Present at the solemn opening were the authors of the displayed photographs, representatives of the State Emergency Service (SES), and the heroes of the documentary footage. Among the photos in the exhibition is a shot capturing the moment of rescuing a girl named Yana from the debris of a destroyed building. This episode occurred in April 2025 when rescuers successfully retrieved the girl from the ruins.
Symbol of hope and recovery
Almost a year and a half later, Yana, the rescuers, and documentary photographer Anton Shtuka met again. This meeting became a symbol of hope and recovery after the horrors of the war. The exhibition "Saving the Capital" not only showcases the heroism of rescuers but also emphasizes the importance of remembering those events that changed the lives of many people.
