New Pedestrian Bridge Set to Open
A pedestrian bridge will soon be unveiled in a park along Pryrichna Street in Kyiv's Obolon district. The project is a joint effort between Kyiv and Vilnius, symbolizing the partnership between Ukraine and Lithuania. Spanning a bay, the bridge's design draws inspiration from the King Mindaugas Bridge in Vilnius. It will be a key feature in the broader renovation of the park's southwestern section.
Before finalizing the concept, city officials held three rounds of public consultations with local residents.
We are building a pedestrian bridge across the bay, inspired by the King Mindaugas Bridge in Vilnius. The idea emerged as a symbol of the long-standing partnership between Kyiv and Vilnius and as a gesture of support for Ukraine during the war.

Klitschko also emphasized the importance of creating a comfortable space for walking:
This adds another comfortable space for Kyiv residents to walk and relax. During wartime, such places take on special significance — they help people recover emotionally and maintain psychological resilience.

Major Renovation Plans
In addition, the city government plans a major overhaul of the tunnel on the blue (Obolonsko–Teremkivska) metro line between Tarasa Shevchenka and Pochaina stations. In the Solomyansky district, a comprehensive renovation of Valeriy Lobanovskyi Avenue has begun, with work carried out according to principles of accessibility. As a result, traffic will be temporarily restricted on certain sections of the avenue.
These new projects in Kyiv are aimed at improving infrastructure and creating comfortable conditions for the capital's residents.
The opening of the new pedestrian bridge in Kyiv's Obolon district underscores the importance of international cooperation and cultural exchange between Ukraine and Lithuania. This initiative not only enhances the city's infrastructure but also offers locals new opportunities for recreation and emotional recovery amid the war. The capital's renovation of other facilities further demonstrates efforts to ensure accessibility and convenience for all residents.
As the city embarks on enhancing its infrastructure, the recent announcement about the new pedestrian bridge aligns with ongoing efforts to improve urban mobility in Kyiv. In light of these developments, it's important to note that traffic disruptions have also been reported due to repairs on key routes.
