Justice for the businessman
In Kyiv, on Luteranska Street, the executor of an ordered attack on a businessman, which was supposed to look like a domestic conflict, received 10 years in prison. The Pechersk District Court of Kyiv found the 41-year-old man, previously convicted for drug trafficking, guilty of committing intentional grievous bodily harm resulting in death. The actions of the defendant were qualified under part 2 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
Case details
The incident occurred in the yard of a residential building, where the attacker inflicted a stab wound on the 37-year-old businessman. The victim died from blood loss in the ambulance. The attack initially appeared to be a domestic conflict, but the prosecutor proved that it was a planned crime ordered by competitors. During the investigation, it was established that the victim received threats, and the attacker was seen by witnesses in the yard of the same building the day before.
The attacker disguised himself as feeding street animals, buying cat food at a local mini-market, but was actually observing the victim. The knife wound was inflicted on the victim's artery in the leg. The court also satisfied the civil claim of the victims for the amount of 507 thousand hryvnias. Materials regarding the customers and accomplices have been separated into a separate criminal proceeding.
The case was heard in court for an extended period due to changes in the composition of the court, while the materials were initially studied. The Pechersk District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv continues the investigation regarding the customers and accomplices.
