Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team Removes Enemy Drone Warhead
In Kyiv's Darnytskyi district, police bomb disposal specialists successfully recovered a live warhead from an enemy unmanned aerial vehicle. The unexploded ordnance, belonging to a Russian 'Geran-2' attack drone, was discovered in a tree belt at an entrance to the capital. According to law enforcement, the warhead had failed to detonate but had sustained mechanical damage.
Experts from the explosive ordnance disposal service safely neutralized the device and removed it for subsequent destruction. This incident is part of an ongoing pattern of unexploded munitions being found in the city. Earlier in March, another enemy drone warhead was located in a forest within the Holosiivskyi district, specifically in a wooded park area near the village of Lisnyky.
Public Safety Alert
If you encounter any suspicious or potentially explosive objects, police urge the public not to approach them and to immediately report the find to the emergency services by dialing 101, 102, or 112.
The discovery of these live munitions highlights the persistent dangers posed by the remnants of military action across Ukraine. It underscores the critical role of bomb disposal units in safeguarding civilians and the vital need for public awareness regarding the hazards of explosive remnants of war. Police continue to conduct preventative measures to avert accidents and minimize risks to residents in the region. These finds are a grim reminder of the daily threats faced by Ukrainian cities from aerial attacks, even after the immediate danger has passed.
