In Kyiv, on certain routes of private carriers, they have started to raise the fare. On one route, the price has already increased to 20 hryvnias. This is reported by the Telegram channel Passengers of Kyiv.

The fare in Kyiv minibuses has started to rise

It is reported that from March 14, the fare increase was implemented on the route of private carrier No. 434. Passengers noticed an announcement about the new tariff directly in the minibus.

A similar case has already been recorded in the capital. In January, the carrier of route No. 556 also raised the fare to 20 UAH, but later reverted to the old tariff.

Analysts link the new increase primarily to the rapid rise in diesel fuel prices.

Fares for minibuses may increase on other routes

The last large-scale fare increase in Kyiv minibuses occurred in May 2022. At that time, private carriers raised the fare from 10–12 to 15 hryvnias.

Since then, the expenses of carriers have significantly increased, primarily due to the rise in fuel prices by about one-third.

Currently, there are different tariffs for transport in Kyiv:

  • 15 UAH – the average fare for most minibuses;

  • 20 UAH – the new tariff on certain private routes;

  • 6.5–8 UAH – public transport.

Due to the difference in fares, passengers often choose public buses, trolleybuses, or the metro, which has restrained private carriers from increasing tariffs.

Experts note that with the current fuel costs, carriers may revise prices on other routes as well.

Let us remind you that in Ukraine, the introduction of special travel cards for certain categories of citizens is planned, which will replace paper certificates.
