Starting from September 1, 2026, students of general educational institutions in Kyiv can again use the capital's public transport for free. The benefit applies to buses, trolleybuses, trams, subways, funiculars, and urban electric trains. This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.
For a free ride, a student must have a valid student travel card and must validate it upon entering the transport.

An electronic student ticket can be issued or extended through the 'Kyiv Digital' application. For this, a profile confirmed through Diya or BankID is needed.
After the information has been confirmed by the educational institution, the digital student ticket is generated for free. A plastic card can also be ordered for 120 UAH, with a manufacturing time of up to one month.
The digital and plastic student tickets have the same number and a common balance. If the plastic card is lost, it can be immediately blocked through the application. In case of switching schools, classes, or expiration of the ticket, a new one must be issued.
Student ticket in Kyiv in 2026: QR-tickets and parental control
The benefit can only be used on a smartphone by the student themselves. After obtaining the ticket, parents need to pass their child the number and PIN code so that they can add the card to their account.
Students can generate up to five QR-tickets within 30 minutes, and no more than 20 per day. The QR-ticket creation function can be added to quick access on the main screen of the application.
Parental control is also available. A student can allow one of their parents to view their rides. After that, parents will receive notifications about each validation and can see the history of transport usage in their 'Kyiv Digital'.
