Kyiv Police Bust Drug Courier with Major Haul

A 22-year-old drug courier was arrested in Kyiv after authorities confiscated nearly 2 kilograms of banned substances. The suspect was caught while picking up a parcel at a post office containing 1 kg of a white substance resembling amphetamine. Under the procedural supervision of the Shevchenkiv District Prosecutor's Office, he has been charged under Part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Apartment Search Uncovers More Drugs and Paraphernalia

During a search of the suspect's rented apartment, law enforcement seized approximately 1 kg of the psychotropic substance PVP, along with 300 MDMA pills. Additionally, they found electronic scales, weighing and packaging tools, and vacuum-sealing devices. All confiscated substances have been sent for forensic analysis.

The court has ordered pre-trial detention without the possibility of bail. Preliminary investigations suggest the suspect found the job through Telegram, where he was tasked with weighing, packaging, and shipping narcotics to buyers, often disguising them as household appliances. The Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office press service reported the case, highlighting ongoing efforts to combat drug-related crime.

The arrest of this young man underscores the continued crackdown by Ukrainian law enforcement on the illicit drug trade.

Exposing such criminal networks—especially those operating through social media—is a critical step in protecting public safety and reducing the availability of drugs on the street. Further investigations are expected to uncover additional members of this illegal operation.

The recent arrest in Kyiv highlights a growing trend of using postal services for drug distribution. Similar operations have been uncovered, such as a case where a woman managed a warehouse for psychotropic substances, distributing them through mail. This ongoing issue illustrates the complexities of combating narcotics trafficking, as authorities continue to investigate and dismantle these networks.
